Why doesn’t Vladek tell the doctor in the hospital about his glass eye? What does this say about Vladek’s character?

A young doctor came into the room where Vladek got operated and he looked with a light a long time in my eyes and told Mr.Spiegelman, your left eye is perfect and your right eye is cataracts.He didn’t know of course that his left eye was glass eye so he said it looked perfect. But Vladek got happy when the doctor that operated him did a very good job with his eye because he wouldn’t think that he would have the same problem again. Once again it was all due to he’s luck.
