Medea
How would you director the last scene of the play?
A quick summary of how it would be done.
A quick summary of how it would be done.
Medea never has a change of scene, and the play requires no stage direction....... something that occassionally makes it difficult for the audience to understand and certainly makes it hard to direct. That's what happenes when you're dealing with Greek tragedies and their ancient text..... all you have is text.
If I were directing the play, I would ignore Euripides ending and the children would either be murdered in another way or fail to be murdered at all. Euripides' Medea is the only version in which she slaughters her own children......... it's a bit extreme for me, and there are other versions of the story that tell differently. Thus, that is what I would direct in another way.
