Medea

Medea has to get away with murder in the play - but is Euripides on her side?

Is Euripides feminist by making Medea get away with her murder of her children, Glauce and Creon?

Euripides' characterization of Medea shows us the many emotions of a woman betrayed. She is passionate, loves hard, and doesn't let go when vengeance calls. Medea is widely considered a proto-feminist text and it succeeds in its exploration and depiction of the woman's role in a patriarchal society.
