Shylock says that they are just trying to flatter him by inviting him for supper.Shylock says he accepted just so he can feed off the wasteful Christians,

"But wherefore should I go?

I am not bid for love. They flatter me.

But yet I’ll go in hate to feed upon

The prodigal Christian"
