Act 3, Scene 1

There are so many ethical questions posed in this play. I'm hesitant to say they are unfolded specifically in this act and scene. Still, we can see both Shylock's pain at the loss of his daughter and his glee at Antonio's misfortune. This brings up all kinds of questions. Is Shylock merely feeling what we all would feel should we be spit on because of our beliefs? Is revenge in our nature or is Shylock some sort of saddest for wanting an actual pound of flesh?
