Why does Lancelot tell Jessica she's damned?

In context, Jessica and Lancelot are talking about whether or not she can be saved. Jessica believes she can be converted, and thus, saved through her marriage to a Christian. Lancelot notes that both of her parents are Jews, thus, she is damned.
