This conflict is both internal and external. It is an internal conflict because Hermia must make a decision in which she either adheres to her father's wishes or works in direct oppostion to her father's wishes. The attempt to solve the problem comes when Lysander convinces her to leave Athens with him.

Hermia's defiance can also be considered an external conflict. Her father's threats to follow his desires and Hermia's unwaivering defiance is an external conflict.

The end result....... Hermia marries her love.
