This play is very much an ensemble piece. We do not spend much time exploring each character of the play. They tend to be in obsessive about one person or another. Hermia wants Lysander, Hermia is supposed to marry Demetrius, Oberon wants Titania's changling.....I think you get the idea. Amidst all this "wanting" Puck plays his games. What we are left with characters playing archetypes rather than characters with deeper meaning.
