Ruthanne responds that the incident at the store has become a topic of conversation in the community. She is upset that Emmett was insulting, and that he doesn't care about the consequences. She thinks that Emmett will be leaving soon to return to Chicago, and she thinks it is kind of Hiram to be concerned.
