In chapter 12, Grampa tell Hiram, “If I was you, Hiram, I’d keep my mouth shut about this whole thing. It’s going to be ugly, maybe even dangerous.” Who does Grampa think might hurt Hiram?

At this point, anyone might hurt Hiram. Sadly, it is the men Grandpa assisted.... his friends, and his cohorts from the White Citizen's Council. If Hiram is prepared to testify against R.C. or anyone else.... his life is in danger.
