Mister Pip
Why does Mr. Watts wears a clown nose and pull Grace on a trolley?
It is meant in the begining and the end of the story when Mathilda visites June Wats

In the novel, Mr. Watts wears a red clown’s nose and pulls Grace (his wife) behind him in a trolley. The scene is reminiscent of a scene the couple acted in while living in New Zealand (Queen of Sheba). The townspeople, however, are unaware of this fact.
