beatrice and benedick say that lovers are fools, and they want nothing to do with love. why do you think they say this?

I guess this would be one of the running themes of this play. Beatrice and Benedict say that love makes men and women fools. They do not see straight and end up making impulsive and silly decisions. They say that love strips the individual and leaves them a shell of their former self. Both Beatrice and Benedict seem always at odds with each other. Really they are running away from their mutual attraction and love for one another. They seem ant-love to keep their own identities rather than combining them by getting married.
