Finally, Mr. M is able to get their attention and silence by ringing the school bell "violently" (p.7). Mr. M reads them the definition of a debate from his personal dictionary, reminding them that the opposing viewpoints should get "equal time and consideration" (p.7). Mr. M calls for an end to the open section of the debate and asks for Thami from Zolile High School to make his closing statement, reminding him to be brief.
