what is the meaning of the Cyclops’ plea in lines 484-494? What effect will this plea have on Odysseus and his ships?

O hear me lord, blue girdler of the islands, if I am thine indeed, and thou art father; gran that Odysseus, raider of cities, never sees hise home; Laete's son, I mean, who kept his hall on Ithaca, should destiny inend that he shall see his roof again among his family in his father's land, far be that may, and dark the years between. Let him lose all companions, and return under strange sail to bitter days at home.

The cyclops entreats Poseidon to destroy Odysseus' ships and to kill all of his men. He prays that Odysseus never return to his home, but that if he is allowed to return..... he do it alone, in someone else's ship, and that he find trouble in his home. This entreaty foreshadows Odysseus' future.
