These are so appropriate. Certainly fear is what Bigger deals on so many levels. His economic situation, his relationships with white people...THere is always the sense of running away on the same levels of fear. Finally Richard Wright gets the reader to ponder fate as a major theme. Was Bigger destined for this ending? Did Bigger even have a chance to end up differently? In context of the story and the time, one wonders if really Bigger's fate was sealed the day he was born.
