I'm not sure if you mean "alienate" by your last word there. Western education does liberate the people but only within the context of the West. Education enables both men and women to function successfully within a Western socio-economic framework. A struggling country needs Western educated people to realize a future in the modern free enterprise world. At the same time a Western education can alienate people from their own culture. The social context of different cultures don't always fit with that of Western culture. Educated people from the west often feel distant from their countrymen who belong to different sensibilities.
