What would Tambu's fate have been if she had another brother? Would she have received her education? If so, at what cost?

Much of the family's hopes die with the mysterious death of Nhamo, Tambu's older brother. Had there been another brother, he would have taken the spot at the mission school. Males took precedence over females in terms of education, income, jobs....Tambu would only enjoy a minimal education. Her destiny would have been early marriage and child bearing.
