Do you think that learning about historical events can guide people to behave differently?

I really hope we can learn from history but sadly, humanities track record on these things does not look promising. We seem to make the same mistakes over and over again. Still, history has important lessons and we must keep it alive if there is to be hope for human beings. Chaotic events in the world going on right now are a great reason to learn about history.
