How could the Jews of Sighet have possibly escaped from the Germans?

I do not think all the Jews of Sighet could have escaped the Germans. Certainly some, who recognized the gravity of the situation, did leave. An evacuation of a whole town would be problematic to say the least. Many should have left though. Moshe the Beadle, had seen the atrocities and had come back to warn them. Unfortunately he was regarded a strange or crazy. Still, news from outside was trickling in from other sources and that would have been the time to leave (especially while the boarders permitted it).
