PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Beginning on page 66, Wiesel recounts a passage where Buna is about to experience an air raid. While the prisoners wait for the bombing to begin, a man crawls on his hands and knees toward two cauldrons of soup and ultimately he is killed. What does this scene symbolize? What implications does it convey to the reader?

I suppose it conveys the futility these prisoners live under. When he finally gets to the soup, he is literally starving, he is killed by allied forces who are fighting the Nazis.
