Moche is Elie's teacher. He works in the synagogue and is well liked in the community. Moche is one of the first deportees because he's a foreigner in Hungary, thus he was one of the first to be deported to the camps. Moche not only escapes, but he survives as well. When he returns to Sighet to warn the people, he is believed to be mad.... they should have listened.
