Syntax

Prior to chapter 3 Elie uses longer sentences to convey his ideas, but in chapter 3, he uses shorter sentences when writing about the Nazi sldiers he came in contact with in Auschwitz. Why is this?

I think the author is much more traumatized when compromised by Nazi soldiers. Fear and disillusion makes Elie relate experience rather than detail his emotions.
