what happened to moishe that caused a great change in him

Moishe was deported by the Germans as he was a foreign Jew. He and the other Jews were taken on trains and from their loaded onto trucks and taken to a forest where they dug their graves. One by one they were made to stand in front of this grave and be shot. Children were thrown into ther air and butchered by machine guns. Moishe was shot in the leg and left to bleed out, but he did not die. Laying among the dying for possibly days he somehow found the strength to return only to find that no one would listen to his warning. This is what caused the great change in Moishe.
