what kind of relationship does elie and his father have at the beginning of the novel

Elie's relationship with his father is strong from beginning to end, but it does change. In the beginning we see them as a typical father and son; dad....... trying to teach his son to be a man, son........ well, Elie's kind of a know-it-all, like most young boys. The difference is that the transformation of Elie's feelings for his father are far different and stronger than any most of us will ever experience.
