What is Oedipus about?

This is my extremely abridged version. Oedipus is abandoned by his father, King Laius, because it was prophesied that Oedipus would one day kill his own father and marry with his own mother, Queen Jocasta. Oedipus hears about this prophesy and longs to know the truth. Along the way his cart hits another cart on a path. In a fit of "path rage" (kind of like road rage), Oedipus inadvertently kills the man he had the altercation with. This man turns out to be his father. Oedipus then solves a riddle from the Sphinx which has been a plague on the kingdom. The kingdom rewards him by letting him marry queen Jocasta, his biological mother. The end of the play has Oedipus realizing what he has done ant tearing his eyes out.
