A theme is an underlying message in a story. A novel's themes are often revealed by what the characters say and think and by what happens in the story. Give two specific examples from the novel that support each one.

The first thing I think of when approaching the theme of true friendship in the novel is George's capacity of love for Lennie. Lennie is a burden, which George willingly carries (although sometimes begrudgingly).

Two specific examples would be George getting Lennie out of Weed before he's caught by the men searching for them. The other would be George loving Lennie enough to kill him and save him the punishment he'd incur from killing Curly's wife.
