why is the boss so suspicious of George and Lennie? What does it tell us about migrant workers at the time?
The Boss is suspicious because Lennie and George travel as a pair. He is also suspicious because Geoge answers lennie's questions for him, he thinks that George is taking advantage of Lennie. Most workers move from job to job on their own.

"Well, I never seen one guy take so much trouble for another guy.
I just like to know what your interest is."
