Of Mice and Men

Curley's wife is thoughtless and lonely.

Authors show what characters are like by describing what they look like, what they say, and what they do. What have you learned about the characters in Of Mice and Men from their appearance, words, and actions? Give two examples from the book that support each statement.

Loneliness:

"I get lonely. You can talk to people, but I can't talk to nobody but Curley." (Pages 122-3)

Thoughtless:

"An' what am I doin'? Standin' here talkin' to a bunch of bindle stiffs - a nigger an' a dum-dum and a lousy ol' sheep - an' liking it because they ain't nobody else." (Page 111]
