turning point
Curley's wife walks into a barn where Lennie is perplexed over inadvertently killing his puppy. Curley's wife, out of loneliness, flirts with Lennie- he is the only man on the ranch she can persuade to speak with her. She lets Lennie stroke her hair. She begins to panic and Lenny clamps onto her. Lennie is scared he will get in trouble and inadvertently breaks her neck. This sets off the final part of the story where the dream of a farm is dead and George must shoot Lennie.
