Describe the relationship between Lennie and George in Chapter 1 in Of Mice and Men?

The relationship between George and Lenny based on the information we're given in Chapter One, would be that of a parent/child or older/ younger sibling relationship. Regardless, we understand from the first chapter that it is impossible for Lenny to take care of himself and George has taken responsibility for him. We get the sense that Lennie gets George in trouble or "hot water".
