Did curley's wife deserve to die?

I don't think anybody in this book deserved to die. Curlie's wife was lost and lonely. She was desperate for attention and chose the only person who would not rebuke her. Unfortunately, this situation was foreshadowed earlier in the novel, the girl in Weed, and would be disastrous.
