Does this story has a positive or negative ending? why?

The ending is actually both positive and negative. Lennie's death rocks us emotionally, particularly because his execution is carried out by George. On the other hand, we also know that when Slim and George go out for a drink afterward, George's future lies ahead of him. It will be a lonely future..... but one of his own making.
