How do the dreams of Lennie, Curley's wife, George, and Candy all die through that accidental death in chapter 5?

Lennie must run away.... his dream is gone. Curley's wife will never make it to Hollywood. George will not go after the dream without Lennie. Candy is no longer needed.... he is stuck on the ranch for as long as they'll keep him.
