How does Curley experience "temptation and destruction" when attacking Lennie in the barn?

Big guys who will not defend themselves always tempt Curley. That is why he goes after Lennie so quickly. Curley has "small guy" complex. When Curley goes after Lennie the result is the destruction of one of Curley's hands. I think Curley's motivations are born about out of his insecurities and loneliness.
