He could live a normal life, but he says, "I got you! You can't keep a job and you lose me ever' job I get. Jus' keep me shovin' all over the country all the time. . . You do bad things and I got to get you out"

George says he could have a swell time "no problems". He says he could collect his check, go to town and visit a "cat house". George laments about the freedom that he could have not having to worry and watch over Lennie.
