How is Lennie's treatment of his dead puppy typical of his character?

Lennie has killed the puppy in the same way he killed the mouse in the first chapter. Both animal's lives were ended because Lennie pet them too hard..... loved them too much. Lennie's realization that he killed the puppy causes him to be gripped by a growing panic that George will find it, and that now he "won't get to tend the rabbits" Attempting to hide the puppy is typical of Lennie, in that like a child, he just wants to make the problem disappear.
