how is the rabbits treats to lennie similar to curley's threats to lennie

In chapter 6 Lennie imagines a gigantic rabbit that mocks him for ever believing that he could tend the rabbits. The imaginary rabbit says that George will beat him with a stick when he arrives. I'm not sure which threat of Curley's you are referring to.
