Lennie relates his dreams, of attaining a small farm with George, to Crooks. Crooks is quick to point out that that George and Lennie aren't the first ones to have a this dream: he has seen many itinerant ranch hands, who come and go, with the same dream. Crooks notes that nobody ever realizes their dream.
