Slim is the only person that George has taken into his confidence. He understands how George feels about Lennie, and he understands empathy..... and mercy. Slim supports George and understands what he has to do. He isn't the same as the other men..... he has a heart.

Slim just wants to help George and tries to comfort him after George has killed Lennie. Slim is compassionate and tries to make George forget. He offers to take him into town to get a drink, to take him away from the scene of the murder.
