On pp27-37, the mood of the story changes. What several words describe the mood in the novella in the beginning and at the end of Chapter 2. Also, what causes the change?

Even Lennie with his limited intelligence reacts to the dark tone of the place, Lennie cried out suddenly—"I don' like this place, George. This ain't no good place. I wanna get outa here."
