Turning points for George.

Once Lennie kills Curley's wife,George knows that they have no hope for their future. When he sends Lennie to wait for him and when he finally decides to kill Lennie, he seems to feel he is doing the merciful thing, because he does not want Lennie to suffer at the hands of the "mob" coming after Lennie.
