Curley's wife is weak too. She is so weak that Steinbeck doesn't even give her a name. She is an outsider simply because she has married Curley and become his property. Her identity striped, she wanders the ranch in search of company. Her conversation with Crooks reflect the fact that both are outsiders (Crooks is black) and they are both shunned for different reasons. Crook dreams of being treated with respect. He longs to be wanted. Really this is the same with Curley's wife.
