What do the Rabbits , the farm gorge and lennie want to own , and Candys dog symbolize in the book ?

Simply they represent shattered and dead dreams. All of these things represent friendship, love and understanding. Steinbeck's book has little of these qualities. They remain just out of reach like an illusion.
