Lennie loves animals..... to death. The dead mouse in Lennie's pocket reveals a few different things. First, he's a dreamer. Second, he loves soft things. Third, he loves too hard. Fourth, he doesn't want to give up the few things that belong to him. He crushes the mouse with the affection he can't show in other circumstances.
