what does the fight between Lennie and curley show you about their characters?

The fight shows Curley to be a coward with a small guy complex. He attacks Lennie thinking Lennie will not defend himself. Lennie takes the beating until George tells him to defend himself. He crushes Curley's hand into pulp.
