what is the theme?

Chapter Three's theme investigates relationships. The relationship between George and Lennie; Candy and his dog; Curley and his wife. We see the destructive forces of relationships, the familial relationships built upon the need for companionship and family, and the dysfunction of the marital relationship between Curley and his wife.
