What is your first impression of Lennie and George?

My first impression of Lennie and George is that they're a couple of guys looking for work. They travel together and stay together. Lennie is often misunderstood and gets them into trouble.... leading me to believe that George has even more patience than we know. George's detailed instructions to Lennie at the river immediately forbode more trouble ahead.
