what trouble did George and lennie have in weed

It becomes clear in the Barn scene of the book that Lennie has an obsession with petting "soft" things. This is also shown through his desperate want to tend the rabbits throughout, and his stroking of Curley's wife's hair. It is this that caused the trouble he and George got into in Weed. During their time there Lennie spotted a dress which enticed him into grabbing it. Of course the lady wearing the dress screamed, pulling away from him, but Lennie's strength allowed him to hold on. This caused the dress to rip and didn't exactly make Lennie look like a gentleman. Word spread that Lennie had mistreated the woman, and so he and George were forced to leave. Hope that helps :)
