I think Steinbeck's vision of depression era America was quite realistic. Steinbeck focuses on male migrant itinerant workers, two in particular. He captures the essence of the isolation and loneliness these men are trapped in. As for quotes, really any quotes about money, or lack of it, as well as isolation will do.
