Why does Curley attack Lennie? What do their actions in the fight reveal about each of the characters?

Curley had a bad case of small guy complex. He went after bigger guys he thought he could intimidate. A joke was made by one of the men directed towards Curley in the bunk house. Lennie smiled which set Curley off on him.
